Germany’s most successful international music export the Scorpions are poised to “sting” once again as they plan their Humanity World Tour 2007/2008. Thirty-five years after the release of their debut album Lonesome Crow, the Scorpions have renewed themselves by collaborating with the legendary American producer Desmond Child, who has helped shape the sound of artists like Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, and Kiss. The band’s new album Humanity Hour I melds the classic hard Scorpions sound with more modern musical elements. Experience the Scorpions in Calgary at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium September 10.

Legendary songwriter and singer Art Garfunkel was originally revered for his Grammy-winning songs and albums with partner Paul Simon. Garfunkel went on to perform as a solo artist, has also enjoyed a successful film career, and in January, 2007 released his twelfth solo album Some Enchanted Evening. Simon and Garfunkel’s greatest hits collection is the biggest selling album ever by a duo, and includes such timeless hits as "Mrs. Robinson," "Scarborough Fair," "The Sound of Silence," "The Boxer" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Art Garfunkel’s Calgary performance is sponsored by the Pembina Institute, a national non-profit organization working on sustainable energy solutions for the health of the planet.

With a career stretching back 40 years, British band Jethro Tull has grown from a modest, blues-playing ensemble to a progressive act that blends classical, folk, jazz and art rock into its sound. Fronted by vocalist/flute player Ian Anderson, Jethro Tull earned international stardom in 1971 with the release of Aqualung, which is still played on classic rock radio today. The platinum-selling follow-up Thick as a Brick continued the momentum, making Jethro Tull one of the most talked-about and best-selling acts of the era. Moscow Ballet brings the romantic and tragic beauty of Swan Lake in a new version, created especially for North American audiences by director/choreographer Anatoli Emelianov. While honouring the great classical tradition, Emelianov has created a lively, energetic and emotionally complete production of a ballet that has captivated audiences since its premiere in 1877. Moscow Ballet's soloists, laureates of international ballet competitions, have been praised for their "fine classical style," and strong dramatic techniques.
