Educators

The Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium has benefited from the talent of a series of professionals, dedicated to inspiring knowledge and building cultural awareness.

Donna Simon-Kovatch

Ms. Donna Simon-Kovatch currently teaches with the Calgary Board of Education. She has worked for the last twelve years as a classroom teacher in kindergarten to Grade 6 as a resource teacher, curriculum leader and specialist teacher.

Ms. Simon-Kovatch completed her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Calgary, Alberta and her Masters of Education degree at the University of Victoria, British Columbia. Her Masters thesis explored the development of schools as authentic learning communities.

Her work with the Jubilee Auditorium has put theoretical work into practice. In developing this program, she has demonstrated how schools and communities can work together to provide authentic, meaningful learning for students in real-life settings.

Recently, Ms. Simon-Kovatch was awarded the Innovative Practices Award from the Alberta Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (AASCD) and the 2000 Teacher Award in Sciences from the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologist and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA).
