Dancing

The Jubilee is a great place for dances to be done.  I want to be an Alberta Ballet dancer someday.

I went to see the Nutcracker in 2007 on the twenty-first of December. It was the last time they did it that way.  Next year they are going to do it a different way.  I did the Nutcracker once and I got to be Clara.  It was amazing to be the center of attention.  In the second show the Nutcracker (kevien) drop me all because of his hat falling down.  Great show.

Special Memories

Our family of 6 (mom, dad and 4 kids under 6 years of age) arrived in Calgary in October, 1956 from London, Ontario. Every couple of years our grandparents would drive out to visit us.

Shortly after the Jubilee Auditorium was built my grandpa loaded a bunch of us in his car to go for a drive. We stopped at different places of interest around Calgary so he could take photos (which were made into slides)and the Jubilee Auditorium was one of our stops. I remember Grandpa being very impressed not only with the building but also with the landscaping.

The first time I was actually inside the "Jube" was when our grade 5 class from Terrace Road Elementary School participated in the Kiwanis Music Festival in about 1961. I was overwhelmed with its splendor. We sang "What Can The Matter Be?" but didn't win any ribbons. Since then, I have seen many fine musicians, productions and Warren Miller ski movies and have attended many grad ceremonies including those of my two daughters. The Jube holds special memories for me and I hope to continue to attend events for many years to come.
