Don’t Miss Movin’ Out

This month the lauded musical dance production Movin’ Out comes to the Jubilee Auditorium stage. Conceived and choreographed by the world-renowned Twyla Tharp, this production uses the songs of Billy Joel to narrate a story about a group of young people living on Long Island in the turbulent 1960s. This is a unique production; the ensemble cast tells the story through dance, and a “Piano Man” performs Billy Joel’s most beloved songs.

The show runs November 14 – 18, 2007 and there are still tickets available.

Red Boots, Ballet and Bubbly –
a Fundraising Gala

One of the many types of event held at the Jubilee Auditorium is the fundraising gala. This is the perfect venue for your organization to "wow" potential funders and sponsors. The Ukrainian Shumka Dancers have used our auditorium to their advantage annually for their Gala. This year Red Boots, Ballet and Bubbly takes place on November 10. Cocktails and a silent auction begin at 6:30 PM, and a live performance begins at 8 PM.

The Ukrainian Shumka Dancers will premiere three new dances during Red Boots, Ballet and Bubbly. Girl in the Red Dress is a Carpathian tango; Carol of the Bells is a holiday piece and the third new piece, Vechirnytsi: Life is a Cabaret, is a multi-media variety show featuring live music, singers and creative choreography. The evening promises to be fantastic, and at $100 a ticket it is an excellent opportunity to be entertained while supporting an amazing organization. Local celebrities Lorraine Mansbridge and Colin MacLean will host.

Shumka means 'whirlwind' in Ukrainian. If you have ever seen these dancers, you realize how aptly named they are. Their artistic vision puts forward a dance style built on a foundation of Ukrainian dance, incorporating world dance, classical techniques and original choreography.

Shumka is an organization with a world-class reputation as a leading dance group, and they are Canada’s only professional Ukrainian dance company. Support them; buy tickets now for Red Boots, Ballet and Bubbly.
