CONGRATULATIONS |
Every year at this time, the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium looks forward to June, which brings the University of Alberta's Convocation ceremonies. This year is the University's Centenary — a celebration of 100 years of Education — promising an event even bigger and more fantastic than usual.
For all of the graduands we wish you sincere congratulations. For your families, here are some tips for enjoying a minimally stressful, very proud Convocation ceremony:
- Please arrive early — both parking and seating are easier when you are here with plenty of time to spare.
- For most faculties the Auditorium is quite full with just graduates and their immediate family members. There are not likely to be extra tickets. If you choose to come early to check, please remember that even then you may not get seats.
- The University coordinates the distribution of tickets and are set up in the Ticketmaster Box Office (in our lobby) 1 hour prior to the Convocation start.
- EVERYONE in the auditorium needs a ticket, even babes-in-arms.
- Strollers, infant car seats and walkers all pose a safety risk to other patrons if they are not properly stored by our staff.
- Cell phones, pagers, beepers and Blackberries should be shut off when you enter the theatre.
- There are monitors in our Main Floor Lobby Alcoves. Feel free to watch the event from there if you have children who are finding it hard to sit through the ceremony.
- Graduation is a great photo-op. May we suggest our Sculpture Garden on the North and Southeast sides of the building?
For the graduating students, convocation is one of the most memorable days of their lives. The Auditorium buzzes with pride, happiness, and not a small amount of relief.
Enjoy this day; make it as special as it deserves to be!
Front of House Generosity!
Our Front of House staff is exceptional in many ways. They put a fantastic, friendly, welcoming face on the Jubilee Auditorium. Our appreciation for them is deep, and we value them tremendously.

Every month, our staff donates their tips to a charity of their collective choosing. This was an initiative they launched several years ago. In February, the Front of House staff was recognized for making a sizable donation to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation and the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. Their giving reached a level of support that earned them a plaque mounted on the donor wall. Of course, this is just one more reason to be proud to call them members of the Jubilee family.
