With a career stretching back 40 years, Jethro Tull is not only a survivor but a thriver. Fronted by vocalist/flute player Ian Anderson, the British band has, over the years, grown from a modest blues-playing ensemble to a progressive act incorporating elements of classical, folk, jazz, and art-rock into its sound. In 1971, Jethro Tull received international stardom with the release of its Aqualung album. Classic rock radio today still plays staples like “Aqualung” and “Locomotive Breath.” The platinum-selling follow-up, Thick as a Brick, continued the momentum, making Tull one of the most talked-about and best- selling acts of the era.

Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull have continued to experiment with different sounds, including electronic and world music, and to release successful discs like 1987’s Crest of a Knave. Recent albums have included The Jethro Tull Christmas Album, Living With the Past, Rupi’s Dance (Anderson’s fourth solo record), Ian Anderson Plays the Orchestral Jethro Tull, and The Best of Acoustic Jethro Tull.
